LONDON COMMUNITY CHAMPIONSHIP

  PROPOSAL

INTRODUCTION

London is a global capital, and has many different Rugby communities within it. With this in mind, a community championship structure is going to be developed, allowing existing Amateur level clubs as well as defunct/bankrupt clubs and also new clubs the opportunity to be reinvigorated and developed into part of a very strong league structure creating very strong niche brands serving their respective communities.

MODUS OPERANDI

The LCC championship will set up economic structures and mechanisms to lower running costs for participating clubs, and to create revenue streams for the clubs to be able to cover their running costs.

Each club will have an online shop on each of their websites, where their supporters can buy clothes, food, snacks, drinks and other cool stuff. Each Club will get a % commission on everything they sell through their club shops.

The LCC will set up and organise Rugby Kit for each club, providing Rugby Kit at a low cost to each club, so that their sponsors get greater value for money than if the club went to buy their kit at retail price. There will be a choice of all the leading brands. Club shirts will then be sold to the general Public through each club shop which supporters can buy and each club will earn a % commission on the shirt sales from their shop. eg: Australians buying a London Wallabies jersey or a National Team Jersey or Super 14 jersey through the Wallabies Online shop would earn commission for the club. Over the period of each Rugby season ( 1 year) accumulated commission from each club shop should amount to a sizeable revenue which can go towards each clubs own insurance costs, pitch rental costs etc, thus lowering their overall yearly operational and running costs.

Group Sponsorship and group marketing campaigns will also be organised by the LCC on behalf of each club, where teams being marketed as part of a bigger picture would allow potential sponsors the added comfort of knowing that they are investing not only in their club of choice, but that their investment is part of a much bigger picture where the value is exponential as the competition develops and goes from strength to strength.

CLUB LISTING

Below is the proposed listing of members, invited clubs from all the most exciting Rugby communities. Existing clubs, reinstated clubs and new clubs will all benefit from strong branding initiatives and every club will benefit from the same opportunities and support to create an exciting and long term championship.

The LCC league organisation will be managed by a committee comprising of one official from each community club, with a chairman elected annually.

NOTES

* London Tri-Nations / London Southern Crown

London Tri-Nations is the London amateur equivalent of the TRI-Nations but for the London based amateur expat rugby teams. www.ant.chaerilus.co.uk/lontri.htm

There is talk that the I.R.B. are going to expand the TRI-Nations into a Southern hemisphere 6 Nations to mirror the Northern Hemisphere 6 Nations. The 'Southern Crown' would be an Amateur version of this.

** ANZAC Shield is part of the ANZAC Sports Challenge. www.ANZACsportsChallenge.com
